another commission for a friend! she wanted something to give to her son, & she gave me carte blanche for the whole thing. for a long while, i was stumped as to what to even /think/ of, let alone /draw/, & went through (& subsequently scrapped) many different concepts before i settled on this one.
my friend's son is an aspiring author, & my friend, herself, has a very deep connection with & fondness for the sea & sea travel, so i figured "hey, why not mix both?" so here we have a young man at a typewriter, happily at work on a story about pirates, treasure, & the high seas, and a quote from the late but great james gandolfini
when iris (commissioner) & i went to our local kinko's to pick up the print of this, upon unrolling it, she burst into tears, she was so happy with it! one of the most amazing highlights of my entire life ;___; at that point in time, this was the piece i'd worked the hardest on in my entire artistic career. i'm still very proud of it!
